Sandwich 2, Posted October 21, Posted October 21, How to pick your TOK presentation title RIGHT this post is being made because there's an almost endless supply of people who pick very bad TOK presentation titles and it's always for the same reason: they don't really understand what the TOK presentation is about!

What do they mean when they say to pick a Knowledge Issue? You may well be. Keep reading! Or just skip the next heading and go to no. Do they mean to pick an ethical dilemma? Or if you take IB Philosophy, they'll go down well there 3. Okay so what DO they want from me??

For instance, how do we know that this pen is yellow? I get it now, but how is "this pen is yellow" a knowledge issue? Well that's what you have to discuss!

I'm doing a practice presentation in a few weeks and the topic I've come up with is: How do we know whether a product is 'good value'?

Any constructive criticism is much appreciated. You start with your planning document. This document will be your blueprint to building everything around your presentation and will help you maintain your workflow and the direction just in case you get lost in the real-life situations, knowledge questions, claims, counterclaims, etc.

Why is this easy? The idea is mostly the same except for the presenting part. You are conceptually clear with your Knowledge questions, claims and implementation in real-life situations also, covered by you in the essay. I will break down what content must go on each slide alongside what you must address while explaining that slide to everyone. You can always make modifications on the basis of your requirements. The structure will help you make yourself clear to the audience whilst maintaining flow to your TOK presentation.

Slide 1: Title Page. Introduce a real-life situation RLS. Elaborate on your perception of the situation when you first encountered it. Emphasize why it is of significance to you.

Slide 2: Decontextualization. What to address. Explain a few things about the RLS and how we know them. For example, our senses may provide some insights, while our emotions provide other ones. Address the limitations of your RLS and your interpretation of it. Mention 2 Knowledge Questions that you considered and the one you are investigating. Dig deep into the key terms that need to be explained in order for us to understand your KQ.

I know all of this can sound way over the top. I felt the same way when I first encountered TOK. But this is exactly how you are supposed to feel. So you are on the right track. Read on! Explain your claim and how it is supported by evidence. Clarify how it would answer the KQ. Then do the same for your counterclaim and support it by evidence. Ensure to clarify how your counterclaim could answer the KQ in a different way than your claim did. Use your conclusion to connect the claim and counterclaim.

Repeat the steps mentioned on slide 4 using your third Area of Knowledge and Way of Knowing. Address the possible weakness or a flaw in your conclusion.

Remember that your presentation is not successful unless your audience learns something about TOK. The PPD or presentation planning document can be of immense use. The different parts of the document will require you to identify key aspects of the ideas you want to present. After that, use your outline to explain the key arguments that you want to make. The outline must be made of genuine content and not just empty phrases without speaking about what your discussion entails.

You already know by now that PowerPoint offers the simplest way of making your presentation. However, make sure you stick to these rules while using it:. You will generally need to present to your fellow class members and you can do this individually, in pairs, or even in a group of three. Whatever mode of presentation you are told, make sure you prepare thoroughly and teach your audience something about TOK.

After figuring out how you will be presenting, you have to take time to practice. Narration From this slide, an explanation of tour thought about your RLS is narrated followed by its significance. Slide 2: De-contextualization An explanation of some of the questions or thoughts about the RLS is stated in this slide. The situation should be explained using TOK key words learned from the course. Narration During the narration, give a detailed explanation of a few aspects that are related to your RLS.

Do not forget to include limits on the extent to which your RLS should be known to the audience.
