With strong bonds unbroken over an illustrious and mostly behind-the-scenes political career, which still often sees her travelling to Canberra alongside husband and Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew, Mrs O'Brien's sense of appreciation for Gympie has only grown with time.

She would get her home all together and decorated only to then say it's time to move again. She finally found somewhere to put down some roots in Cape Coral, Florida. Sharon loved to float on a raft in the pool with her family. She lived her with her husband, mom and son Shawn for almost ten years before heading back up north.

Sharon is survived by her husband Patrick J. We know she is at peace now with her son and family members. You are loved dearly.
